CLIL PLUS – CLIL FOR STEM TEACHERS
(Online/Face-to-Face)
The CLIL Plus programme offers secondary level CLIL teachers the opportunity to come together with other teachers of their subject, to look at ideas and activities for developing CLIL materials and CLIL lessons. The CLIL Plus programme can be taken as a follow-on course from our introductory course - CLIL: An Introduction to Content and Language Integrated Learning for Secondary Teachers, or it may be taken as a stand-alone course.
The CLIL for STEM Teachers course is specifically for teachers whose subjects include Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics.
Using STEM materials from the Irish Post Primary Curriculum (Junior Cycle [12/13 to 15/16 years old] and Senior Cycle [15/16 to 17/18 years old]), the course will focus on the specific language demands of STEM subjects, and the general academic language required by learners to engage with the materials and demonstrate their learning.
The course is practical and encourages teams of CLIL STEM teachers to come together to share ideas and develop materials that can be used in their teaching context.
For teachers applying through the Erasmus Plus Scheme the OID number is E10133233
The aim of this course is to help teachers:
- Identify and analyse the language demands of STEM subjects.
- Adapt target language STEM materials for use with their students.
- Design CLIL STEM activities to support their students in their CLIL learning.
- Plan and deliver CLIL STEM lessons with confidence.
English Level:
Applicants to this course must have a minimum B1 level of English, as outlined in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
